Missing .com in failing outlook "Exchange Directory" (Network Steve Forum)

Missing .com in failing outlook "Exchange Directory"

Can someone tell me where Exchange would be getting or generating this information from? You'll see in the connection status below (sorry for the blackout) that there is a .com missing from "Exchange Directory" and it is in a disconnected status.

When it's like this we have random failures in accessing the GAL/AL, etc (as would be expected).

I checked the user's email addresses and proxy addresses, nothing is single label.

Have you run Test E-Mail Autoconfiguration in Outlook to see what URLs are returned?

Hi,

According to your post, please check the account type are you configured in Outlook client. Do you have add additional mailbox or shared calendar in it?
Also ensure all outlook client experience this issue in your environment, try test outlook in cache mode or online mode.

We need more details about your question, please post the result of Test E-Mail Autoconfiguration as Ed mentioned.

Below is the XML for public consumption. The only thing removed are the alternate/delegate mailboxes. None of the alternate/delegate mailboxes was missing a .com.

I'm not sure if you can see it well but the failing "Exchange Directory" 'Server name' is:

2dae707a-d7c8-4622-b961-dd9ac8369bc2@domain (note the lack of the .com).

I don't see a missing .com in anything below.

What I did notice is that the EXHTTP section below shows "msstd:server71.domain.com" instead of the correct and only msstd setting defined manually in EXPR, "msstd:*.domain.com". What else is odd about this is that the msstd setting is displayed in the "Results" tab of "Test E-mail Autoconfiguration" but it is not listed in the "XML" portion of the same.

For your question and .xml results, please run Get-OutlookProvider | FL to check the value of CertPrincipalName. The outlook client should be match to this setting, if not, it could be work correctly. Please refer to:

If this issue persists, please re-configure Outlook profile by autodiscover service with other account to ensure whether this issue only occur on some special user.

As I said above, CertPrincipalName had been manually set for EXPR. It had not been set for EXCH.

This site would indicate that CertPrincipalName is required for EXCH as well as EXPR for wildcard certificates in 2013 so I set it. http://ilantz.com/2013/06/29/exchange-2013-outlook-anywhere-considerations/

Do you restart IIS and World Wide Web Publishing service to take effect after you change the value for Outlook provider?

For your question, please re-check the configuration for Outlook Anywhere and autodiscover. I find some relevant blog for your reference:
